Bill of Quantities (BOQ) Codes are used to structure and classify work items related to materials, labour, civil works, mechanical works, and electrical works.
How Do I Add Codes to the BOQ Code Setup?
Cost codes can be added in two ways:
Method | Description |
Add a code manually | Use this option to add individual BOQ Codes. |
Import codes using an Import Sheet | Use this option to add multiple BOQ Codes at once. This is recommended for large datasets. |
Add a BOQ Code Manually
In the Master Codes window, click BOQ Code Setup from the left panel.

Click Add New BOQ (top-left).

Enter the required details.
For information on the available fields, check Add a BOQ Code Manually - Basic Information.

Click Add.
The BOQ Code will be created.

TIP:
To cancel, click the cross
icon (top-left).
Adding Codes Using an Import Sheet
Click the download
icon (top-right).
In the pop-up, click Click Here to Download Report.
The BOQ Code Setup Import Sheet will be downloaded.

Open the downloaded file.
If prompted, unblock macros before editing the Excel file.

View the Instruction sheet for guidance on how to fill in the data.

Open the Import Sheet and enter the required data.

Return to the Instruction sheet and click Validate Data.

NOTE: If the imported data does not match the required format or data type, validation will fail. Update the fields highlighted in red and validate the data again.
Once the data is validated, a success message appears: Validation Successful. Please click on prepare button.

Click Prepare Data.

When prompted, save the generated JSON file.

In the Import BOQ pop-up, click Choose File.

Select the saved JSON file.
Once the upload is complete, a success message will appear and the BOQ Codes will be added.

Add a BOQ Code Manually - Basic Information
Option | Description |
BOQ Level | Select the BOQ Level from the dropdown. |
Code | Enter the code name. |
Description | Enter a description for the code. |
Unit of Measurement (UOM) | Enter the UOM. |
Parent BOQ code | Select the Parent BOQ Code, if applicable. |
BOQ Code | Enter the BOQ Code. |
